About This Class

This half-day classroom course covers the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as adopted in Kansas, with a focus on field-level application rather than theory.

We move through the code sections that trigger the most failed inspections and costly rework: appliance clearances, venting requirements, pressure testing procedures, and proper documentation for permit close-out.

What We Cover

  • Gas piping basics — sizing, materials, and fitting restrictions
  • Appliance clearances — what inspectors measure and what fails
  • Venting rules — common category errors and how to catch them before the inspector does
  • Pressure testing — the right procedure, documented correctly
  • Kansas amendments — local variations you need to know
  • Documentation habits — what to photograph, what to keep on file

What You'll Leave With

Every attendee leaves with a condensed reference card covering the top 10 violation points, plus the course handout packet. No certification is issued at this time (CEU credit in Phase 2).

Format

Classroom lecture with Q&A. Bring your real-world questions — the last 30 minutes is open discussion of situations from the field.
